Shimuwini Bushveld Camp, Kruger Park

Day 16 and we are now on our way back, heading south. We stayed at Shimuwini Bushveld Camp for one night to break up the long drive. There had been a sandstorn there the previous night and all the huts had filled with sand so we had quite a long wait to get into our accommodation. There are only about 12 bungalows and only 3 were occupied. Anyway, after a bit of a moan, we were given the only clean bungalow which had 5 beds and 3 bathrooms. It was luxury but wasted on us as we ate and slept and were up at 4am ready for the drive to our next camp. We had hippos right infront of us and they snorted all night. Fabulous !

 Red-crested Bustard

The view from our bungalow. A bench to watch the sun go down with a nice cold beer !

There was a hide in the camp that overlooked hippos. The information boards were all hand painted. They were brilliant. Would love to see this in the hides back home.
