A lion twitch !!

Leopard Tortoise coming onto the road for a drink after it had rained

Greater Kudu

A waterhole - could sit at these forever, magical times xx

Elephants drinking from the main tank with wildebeest and a jackal heading for the waterhole

Elephants coming to the river to drink and bathe

Camp birds were plentiful.....they could hear a toaster and bread bag from a mile away !

Afternoon chill

The river. Imagine this totally filled with water during the rainy season - quite frightening

Impala - these are the main food for alot of the predators

Cheers !  Steak and chips at the world famous Cattle Baron's. Delicious !

and I had my usual fish and chips (hake) which was not too bad, but I did have steak nearly every night after. Infact I have a confession to make........one day I had steak for lunch and then steak for tea !!

Baobob tree, none of them looked particularly healthy

and here I am returning from the camp shop, bread and milk tucked under my arm

and an elephant having a drink of puddle x

Some beautiful mammals in Kruger National Park

Loved sitting at the many waterholes with a constant stream of animals and birds coming in to drink. Every waterhole had it's fair share of guineafowl that ran, fought and bickered constantly. They were hilarious to watch.

Waterbuck, lovely and fluffy

Warthogs, not the prettiest of animals but they were plentiful snorting in the muck

We found a small group of Sable but they stayed in the twiggy bushes and this was the best viewing we had. They really are a stunning antelope.

Red-billed Oxpeckers on zebra. They were on most animals, keeping their fur clean.

Ox-peckers on Impala

A hyena throwing itself in a muddy waterhole, it was surrounded by vultures also coming in to bathe so they must have been feeding on a nearby kill.

A dead hippo with a crocodile and fish eagle lining up ready to eat it

Giraffe with a neck full of ox-peckers

Elephant - we saw thousands. Probably my favourite animal in the world x

Crocodile !

Chacma Baboons. Never trust them, they will steal anything and everything

Bushbuck, a stunning antelope, beautiful markings

Blue Wildebeest

Black-backed Jackal. Last time we were in Kruger we saw lots, this time afraid only a few and never close. Has something happened to them ? Quite sad to see only a handful.

Giraffes - plenty and everywhere we went. Such beautiful, graceful animals

Jackals in India

We saw quite a few jackels during our trips. Always very wary and distant.
