In May this year we went birdwatching to Poland. A truly magnificent country, totally unspoiled. Farming is still carried out with a sythe, a rake and a couple of horses. Wildlife thrives, birds, flowers and insects can be seen everywhere. Would highly recommend a visit to this country. We used the services of Poland Birding Services, excellent value for money. Our guide was Andrzej Petryna, a very knowlegable guide and a lovely chap. Poland is covered by 30% forest. We went to the Bialowieza Forest which is the only remaining medieval forest in Europe. A forest guide is also needed to enter the forest. It is so thick and dense, must resemble tropical rain forest. Then we went onto the Biebrza Marshes, which just seems to stretch forever. Seeing Poland made us realise that we have got everything wrong in this country. The abundant wildlife spoke volumes. We met some lovely people here in Poland and the food was lovely, homemade, wholesome good grub. We saw 131 species. Highly recommended and will definately go back.

Great Snipe Lek
Great snipe lek infront of this bush. We were fortunate to see and hear them. Spotted crakes were calling also. Mosquito heaven
Now why don't we do that?
Its a pity we don't adopt this method here in the UK instead of the felling and clearing technique we use in the name of health and safety
