More Silver-washed Fritillaries from a couple of weeks ago

 

Our local woods are simply alive with these beautiful butterflies this year. A stunning display of floating orange along the burdock and bramble tops. Some of these pics were taken a week apart.....their wings are in tatters from battling ! A stunning sight to see and of course, just us two !!

Still lots flying in our local woodlands although most of the males have battled until their wings are now in tatters. They look beautiful drifting over the bramble and burdock bushes.

One of our local woods has been fabulous this year for silver-washed fritillary. A couple of the rides that have burdock, brambles and a rogue buddleia have been a feeding haven for them. It's been brilliant !

Absolutely stunning butterflies ! A couple of the rides in one of our local woodlands are alive with these beautiful butterflies this year. An hour there yesterday and we were blown away by them, never stopped coming past and now starting to do courtship displaying. A second visit is definitely on the cards, tomorrow, weather permitting !
