Wheatears and a Green Woodpecker

 

Two very flighty wheatears on our walk this morning and two very vocal green woodpeckers

A few red-legged partridges picking through the fields

And we still have a few butterflies around, a Red Admiral and a Speckled Wood

Wheatears and Whinchats, Donna Nook, Lincs

 

A walk down the bushes at Donna Nook after the walk round Covenham (getting our steps in today!) gave us 3 wheatears, 8 whinchats, a redstart and a seconds glimpse of a pied flycatcher. Another brilliant day on the Lincs coast. Afraid returning there 2 days later gave us absolutely nowt !!

Two wheatears have stopped over the last two days, both very flighty but so good to see

Masses of swifts yesterday in the showery weather, one of my favourite birds but almost impossible to capture on camera. Pleased with these, will defo get more pics this summer

Loads of swallows, house and sand martins skimming the water and the wind pushed them into the top corner. There was another swallow with a red belly, wonder if it's the same one as last year. It stood out a mile. 

and a godwit from a couple of days ago that didn't look all that well but had gone the following morning

The chiffchaff that sings a combination of chiffchaff and willow warbler songs

Coot in a tree !

Greenfinch catching a few rays !

A pair of mandarin ducks, he never left her side !

A muntjac strolling down the path, it soon dashed back in when it saw us

1000's of sand martins, almost a murmuration ! (I know it looks like dust !)

Tufted Duck

and a single wheatear has returned. We walked her twice last week, first time it was gale force winds and the second time the heat haze was off the scale ! Two pairs of stonechats made us the supporting cast.
