Spoonbills, Alkborough Flats

Lots of spoonbill action at Alkborough this evening. A juvenile was constantly begging and shouting to be fed, eventually getting a beak full from a parent bird which managed to shut it up for a few minutes until it was begging and chasing again. Very comical to watch as it was pleading to be fed and who would put that little squeak of a call to such a massive bird !

And this handsome beast !

Ringed Plover

Not many birds around on our morning walk today, just a single ringed plover and a couple of ruff.

'Feed me !'

Excellent views of spoonbills from the hide this evening. It was lovely to see a juvenile begging to be fed, shouting and chasing and not giving the parent bird a minutes peace until it was offered a beak full.

Curlew Sandpiper, RSPB Blacktoft Sands

Inbetween watching the Montague's Harrier, we scanned the waders. Simon soon picked up a curlew sandpiper which was a good find and I realised that my binoculars were out of focus !!  Not impressed Swarovski - this is the second time !
