The meadows had many, many butterflies but afraid they didn't land for very long. Always hunting for the next nectar and believe me, there was plenty to go at. With a bit of patience and time we racked up a decent list. Plenty of swallowtails which we saw every day.
Saw quite a few Swallowtails in Cyprus. They really are spectacular don't you think.
On our last morning there at Aspro Dam while we were watching the Cyprus Warbler, Painted Ladies had started to arrive. They never stopped flying past us, 1000's of them. Butterfly migration, a fantastic sight to see.
A day out at Strumpshaw Fen, Norfolk to see the Swallowtail Butterflies. We headed to a spot, recommended by a local, and were not disappointed. Within half an hour we saw one flying over, and then another, but not landing. The weather wasn't as sunny as forecast and there was a breeze but we were not giving up. Then....BINGO ! one came in to feed, and feed it certainly did. we watched it for well over an hour and it was still there when we left in glorious sunshine. A brilliant day out despite the journey there being non stop roadworks and white lining ! We saw 5 in total, a fantastic day looking at one of the most beautiful butterflies. Home for beer and footie !!
