We have many elephant hawk-moths on our fuchsias. This year we saw a couple of moths in our cold frame but this is the first caterpillar we have seen all year. It emerged from a border to cross the lawn but after a couple of feet, it changed it's mind and went back. We have a garden full of vegetables and fuchsias, having over 200 at the last count so there are plenty of host plants and food !
