Grey Seals at Donna Nook, Lincs

A bit of love on the beach !

The weather was not bad so we headed to Donna Nook on our annual trip to see the seals. Recon we were a week or two later this year, 1500 pups but all the action was well and truly over. No males scrapping, they had mated and gone and the younger males had now moved in. A fantastic number of pups which were all round and most now molting, ready for their life at sea. A lovely day if you can avoid the crowds !

Donna Nook Grey Seals

The bulls seemed to have got themselves sorted out after many battles for their ladies. Many very bloody but will be back next year for another fight !

We were a couple of weeks later this year and seemed to have missed the big birthing as most of the pups were a good week old. The info board said 1200 births which is excellent. The crowds were vast (half term.....big mistake!), but we had a lovely few hours strolling up the fence line. We can remember when there was no fence and no people, it was brilliant !

and then we had a display of F18's, straight out of Top Gun !

Grey Seals, Donna Nook, Lincs

Just been born !

There is a lot of placenta for the gulls to eat !

Our annual trip to Donna Nook to see the grey seals. With 1600 pups now born this year, the beach was littered with them. Lovely to see and we are so lucky to have them not too far from home. The crowds seem to get bigger each year !
