Lots of firsts for the year today - Common Terns
Goldfinch
A very skulky Grasshopper Warbler, sheltering from the wind
We had our first Swifts at Covenham today. We saw them arrive, first there was one, then two, then four, fresh in and busy feeding on the billions of flies that Covenham is famous for ! So good to see them back along with a huge flock of swallows and house martins, all busy feeding.

Grasshopper Warbler, Barton
This grasshooper warbler has been at Waters' Edge, Barton for about a months now. Today it was sat out, singing it's little socks off. It was singing when we walked for the great reed warbler, and still reeling when we returned.

Grasshopper Warbler
A late evening stroll down Alkborough Flats tonight and we couldn't believe our luck when we found this grasshopper warbler sitting on the bottom of the fence. We have never had one totally out in the open before, but it didn't stay out for long. It was soon back hiding in the foliage, reeling away.
