Bits and bobs
Avocets at Alkborough Flats
We often wonder why the birds are so skittish and unsettled at Alkborough!
Little gull
A day at Spurn with a couple of yellow-browed warblers, a barred warbler and stonechats, very little else about but a nice day all the same. Lunch in the Canal hide with a distant merlin.

Little Owl in the evening sun. We have been so lucky this year with our local little owls.
We now have 7 pairs very close to our home.

This weekend
Had a brilliant weekend with a great white egret on Saturday morning, then onto Blacktoft later to see the hen harrier come into roost (afraid no male, just a ringtail). Then Sunday morning we headed to Spurn. Simon found 2 snow buntings which were then flushed by an uncontrolled dog (of which there were many !). On the way home we did a detour to watch our red kites come into roost, a perfect end to a wonderful weekend.
The trees were full of fieldfares, just arriving.
Very difficult to count, but at least 30 red kites came into roost. Always a pleasure to watch, they certainly have the WOW factor!
