Black-throated Thrush, Tophill Low, Yorks

A twiggy nightmare !  Not only was the weather greyer than grey (and then it rained!), the thrush sat in the far hedge among a million twigs ! Coupled with a large crowd that couldn't stand still......

The best we could manage I am afraid as it was never close and the sky was dusk all day. Nowhere near as obliging as the Whitby or Grimsby bird. But, we saw it, thats the main thing.

Twig heaven !

A nightmare of a drive to Tophill Low with at least 2 roads closed due to flooding with no diversion signs in place and then a death defying drive down the track to the reserve with water poring over the road......quite scarey !

We would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy, prosperous 2024. Love, peace and rainbows xx

A few to end the year

Stonechats a plenty !

Siskins

Robins for Christmas xx

Don't need a bird scarer, just get the helicopter up...... twice !  Thousands of pink-footed geese everywhere at Misterton Carrs.

Marsh Harriers

Goldeneyes

Buzzards

Blackbirds

Goosanders

A Red Kite extravaganza in Lincs

What a brilliant end to an already fantastic day !

We have watched a valley in Lincolnshire for around 10 years now. A work colleague of Karen cycled in this area and always came to work with a sighting of a red kite. We have seen one or two in this valley over the years and always thought it had such potential. Thought we would call there today where we had 4 red kites on the way.......and then in the valley we had 12 in the air at once. 12 RED KITES !  in a secret valley in Lincs !  Afraid parking isn't easy with a very limited vantage point and most roads single track but 12 red kites in the air and 4 on the way.  A 16 red kite day in Lincolnshire ..........flipping nora !

Snow Buntings, Lincs Coast

We counted 18, afraid never close and this was the closest we could get without them flushing. Lovely to see and there was just us two.....perfect !

A cattle egret party on the way home with 4 at Rimac. Pic below taken through a hedge at veg stall !

What a brilliant day but it's not finished yet !!
