Amethyst Deceiver in our local woodland

We have been looking for these most days on our local woodland walk and finally found 4 up this morning, a week later than last year but our forest is still very dry. Lets hope that the numbers increase in the next couple of weeks. Lovely to see, the colour is fabulous. We had a really good show of them last year, hope for the same this year.

A lovely walk in the woods

and it's fungus time !!

Our garden in October

Its the last week in October and our passionflower is still going strong

Over wintering onions are up

Our dahlias are still well in flower....the last week of October !  Remember when we were kids, it would have been white over with winter well and truly upon us. How can anyone deny climate change ??

The garden is still a riot of colour, looking good !

Rainbow chard, spinach and 4ft tall broccoli.......its a caterpillar extravaganza !!

Swiss Air Force Team, Patrouille Suisse, RAF Waddington, Lincs

And out they come !

LAZY refers to the runway and not the pilot !

Inbound for the second time

The jet wash is building up !

The first time we have ever seen an F5 (apart from in the film Top Gear!). This is the Patrouille Suisse, their base being at RAF Waddington for the weekend, while they partake in a display at RAF Duxford. We did go to see them on Friday but afraid rain stopped play and the covers came off them at Waddington and went straight back on them as the sky blackened. So news got out that they were flying out twice on Saturday so that was us sorted for the day. A big thank you to The Wave moderators who always get accurate and up to date info out on social media. A brilliant morning as they taxied out and then paused infront of the hedge, giving everyone a wave and even Flat Eric took a supersonic ride in a jet and gave us all a wave. Watch my video to the end.....apologies for the hedge! Being a mere 5 foot tall it is impossible to clear the hedge at Waddington without steps. We have many sets of steps but most are in Tom's joinery van......and he is in France carp fishing !  So, our only set was used by Simon and so my video contains a fair wack of hedge. Lesson learned....Argos for me on Monday for my very own set of steps that are going to be MINE.   We did have the sun straight in our faces for the afternoon take off which made photography almost impossible. What a fantastic day !!
