Montague's Harrier, Blacktoft Sands RSPB

As the temperatures rose to the low thirties this afternoon, we decided on an evening visit to Blacktoft Sands knowing that there had been a Montague's Harrier seen around recently. As soon as we sat down it was there, although distant, it was infront of the hide with a couple of marsh harriers. It soon rose on the thermals and was lost to view. Plenty of wader action on the scrapes to keep us occupied and with good company in the hide, it turned into a very good evening. Karen was soon shouting 'Monty' again as it came over the hedge at the side of us and continued to fly away from us towards Blacktoft village, appearing to go down in the reeds. After 10 minutes it was back up again, continuing flying left until it dropped back into the reeds at around 7pm. A cracker of an evening !
