Oliphants, Kruger Park

We now have 2 night at Oliphants Camp before we move for our final week in the south of Kruger. This camp was our least favourite on our trip, infact we really didn't like Oliphants at all. It looked unkept and unloved, had blocked drains that seemed to be constantly overflowing (not good) and our bungalow wasn't too clean. Infact our cooking area was absolutely filthy to be honest. But we saw some good stuff in the area. which made up for it.

Honey Badger - there was 2 at the roadside. By the time we had stopped and reversed they had walked into the long grass

Oh my goodness !  It was one of Simon's wishes to see a leopard in a tree with dangling legs. Well, this morning that wish came true. It had been seen with a cub, along this road the previous day.  So we thought we would drive the road and we stood a 50/50 chance of seeing it.  The road was brand new and not in our guide book so just finding the road was a challenge in itself. Not too many people around but a steady drive with eyes peeled both sides - Bingo ! No sign of the cub but this adult female was just fantastic. We watched her for well over an hour....she moved her head and legs just the once and back off to sleep !

A beautiful lady

Later in the day we came across another leopard, but this one remained totally hidden and asleep. We could just see the spots. A two leopard day !
