Leopard, Berg-en-Dal to Skukuza, Kruger

Day four was already upon us and it was time for us to move to our next camp, Skukuza, for the next 3 nights. The trip had been excellent so far with well over 100 birds on the list, lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebra, 1000's of antelope but so far, no leopard or cheetah. Today was to be a two leopard day !  We started our drive north, taking our time as we had all day. We had already done the 4.30am start being first out the gate at Berg-en-Dal to lots of nightjars and a honey badger. Back around 9am for breakfast and then start the 70km drive. Plenty of stops for birds and mammals along the way and then we saw this lady, just taking it easy under a tree in the shade. Belly full of food and totally oblivious to the cars and their occupants looking in awe at her. She was beautiful. If you have never seen big cats before, words cannot describe the feelings you have when you see such beauty in real life, totally blown away. We watched her for a while, snoozing there in the shade for the day until it just got too much for her and she popped her head down and was out for the count. Time to leave her and continue our journey up to Skukuza. WOW !
