Quite gruesome pics !
Full of food and absolutely spark out !
There were 9 lions here at the recent cape buffalo kill but we could only see 3 of them. The remaining 6 had fed and were now laying in the grass and bushes out of sight. We did occasionally see the odd tail flick up but the safari busses that had great height could see some of the sleeping lions. The kill had happened during the night and when we drove down this track at around 10am, the buffalo was half eaten. It was a gruesome sight with the face and throat eaten and all the back end gone. There was even a lion laid inside the buffalo crunching away ! It wasn't a sight for the feint hearted that's for sure. We were able to park for photography so we stayed with them until they had finished eating. We did return to this kill late afternoon but the lions were still sleeping and there was very little action.
It was definitely a WOW moment. Nature at it's rawest and very best.
