Scent marking the carcass
A late afternoon drive and we soon saw a hyena trotting along with a purpose. We could smell the carcass so knew where it was heading. It had a pee up the carcass and then rubbed the whole of it's body against it......the smell for us was nauseating ! We could hear it crunching bones and it soon had a leg broken off which it took home for tea ! The strength in those jaws must be phenomenal.
