Great Egret, Messingham Nature Reserve

A walk around Messingham Nature Reserve making the most of the summer evenings. A couple of minutes in the hide and a great egret flew straight past the hide, landing at the reed edge. It was soon spooked, flew round again and landed straight infront of the hide until it was chased off by a heron. These two battled and flew round for some time until the egret landed in the cormorant tree and the heron came back on the lake, the obvious winner of the tussle.
