Driving through Simonstown at dusk and these baboons were fancying their chances in the local shops. The town had 'baboon volunteers' that had flags, torches and boards, herding the baboons through the town and away. Had to take the pic through a tinted window at dusk, one open window and they would have been in !
Excellent toasted sandwiches and coffee were consumed quite a few mornings, very tasty !
We even bought a pie or two for lunch x
Chameleon, difficult to photograph as it was constantly on the move
The Victoria and Albert Waterfront in Cape Town. Spotless clean and with lovely shops, restaurants and sites to see. We were heading to the Fish Market restaurant for lunch.
Dassie (Rock Hyrax), hiding away
Hake and chips in Cape Town with Simon's steak and chips below. Followed by a lemon cheesecake and ice cream. Two courses and two drinks on Cape Town front.......£20 !
We went to a small reserve, Rondevlei, where there were a few hippos. This is hippo poo and thank goodness, the nearest we got. Imagine coming face to face with a hippo on the path !
Robben Island in the distance
Shanty Towns. They were literally everywhere, as far as the eye could see in every direction. I can't begin to tell you how many we saw, hundreds of thousands.
Our first night in Cape Town. A trip to Pick and Pay for a few basics. Our room had a small cooking area that did us just fine. Here he is, beans on toast, cuppa tea, nice cake in a box and a bottle of red for later. Happy as larry ! Bins at the ready as we had quite a few birds passing from our balcony. A decent guesthouse, Panorama in Newlands. Good price, nice and clean, in a decent area. Did us fine. We did eat out every day, mostly at lunchtime so beans and eggs did us proud for tea most nights and always with a decent bottle of red which was around £3 - £4. How we get ripped of in Britain.
Table Mountain, Cape Town. A beautiful waterfront with the best view in the world and with fish and chips to die for. I did part with a bit of dosh at a touristy clap-trap shop buying many more unnecessary nik-naks. Just has to be done !
