Trees managed by North Lincolnshire Council

These trees are on Brigg Road, Scunthorpe. A road that is surrounded by heavy industry and is one of the worst polluted roads in the whole country.  Our local council's tree workers deem this is an acceptable method of pruning, to leave the trees as totam poles. There isn't another town in the country that you see tree work done like this and you have to wonder why it has been done. The trees didn't appear to be dangerous. Surely they could have been sympathetically reduced?

We have seen on social media lately, many trees and hedges that are covered in netting to stop birds breeding in them. Here in Scunthorpe we don't have to bother with netting, simply remove every branch, that will sort it.

It's a disgrace.

Chainsaws should also be kept under control. What about the tree nesting birds when the trees are now laying on the ground ?

Nothing whatsoever wrong with these trees, as you can see they are perfectly healthy yet North Lincolnshire Council, for reasons known only to themselves, want them down...in March. There is a pair of Schedule 1 birds in the reeds not 100 yards from this tree work. No doubt the chainsaws will continue as the area will now need to be tidied up after the unnecessary tree felling.
