Kestrel and Little Owls successfully bred in these trees every year. Last week we went on a walk along the public footpath adjacent these trees, a nice walk along the riverbank that often produces a good bird. We could not believe it when we drove past this week to see the tree work done by the Environment Agency. The trees are now mere trunks with the nest boxes swinging in the wind. There seems to be no hope for wildlife that is under a constant battle to survive. The gate to the footpath had a nice shiny new padlock on it but a 5 bar gate will not stop us. We will be contacting the Environment Agency to ask about the tree pruning and the new padlock. Keep you posted.
