Tour of Britain 2018, Barrow in Furness to Whinlatter Pass

 and here they come !

Alaphilippe and Wout Poels battling it out on the climb.
Wout was the stage winner in just over 4 hours.

ITV doing a stage summery before the race. I wouldn't have been able to breath let alone speak ! The camera is in the boot of the car.

The support for Chris Froome was phenomenal, deafening applause and cheers and he appreciated every single one. Acknowledging the crowd - I even got a nod of thanks as he was battling up the hill. Such a down to earth guy, polite, fun, cycling's number one and an absolute legend.

Day two of our stay in the Lake District. Today was Stage 6 of the Tour of Britain, Barrow in Furness to Whinlatter, 168km. The stage winner today was Wout Poels of Team Sky in just over 4 hours. We arrived early to get our spot on the summit and met up with some good folk that we met yesterday.  The riders would pass us twice today and we also had the King of the Mountain finish near us so we knew we were in for a treat of a day. We got a good spot, top of the hill and spread our bags out ! It was without doubt, a fantastic day as you can imagine. The team buses couldn't get up the hill so at the race finish the riders put on warm clothes and free wheeled back down to the bottom. The buses were in Bassenthwaite, a few miles down the road. So we were treated twice to flat out racing uphill and then a gentle downhill ride. Some excellent views with all riders waving and appreciating the crowds. The weather was reasonably kind to us all day, some excellent company, and a cycle race that we will never forget. But we still have tomorrow.......a finish in Mansfield, not too far from home, and perhaps we can make it to the Team Sky bus !
