Bahama Mockingbird and Thick-billed Vireo at Cayo Paredon Grande

Bahama Mockingbird.

Simon and Paulino

The lighthouse at the end of Cayo Paredon Grande.

Thick-billed Vireo.

Two 'must see' birds when visiting Cuba. They are found mainly in this area on the cays and, without Paulino's expert help, we would still be there looking! The Chinese were building a new power station on Paredon Grande and a whole new road network had been constructed. There are also plans for 2 massive hotels on here with 4000 rooms so this site is under massive threat. If anyone is thinking about going to Cuba, you want to go soon, as this site with these two birds will be under concrete very soon.
