Black-winged Stilt, Idle Valley NR

Good views this morning of the Black-winged Stilt at Idle Valley Nature Reserve, not too far from home. The bird showed well most of the time we were there, a good crowd and it was lovely to catch up with Roy and Linda. All the birds flew and Karen looked up to find an osprey passing over, our first of the year.  An excellent morning !

An Osprey flew over, spooking all the birds, but they quickly settled down again

Car parking was a different matter !  Our sat nav took us to Neatholme Lane where we parked infront of this vehicle to be met by this chap who was riding a race horse shouting 'No Parking - private - move it'. I moved our car further back up the lane. The lane didn't say private and had no parking restrictions visible so doubted his statement but didn't argue. He then appeared minus horse with a marker pen and started to write NO PARKING all over this cars windows, not just once but there wasn't a space left on any glass that he hadn't written on. It was a birders car who we met coming back up the track, hope their car was OK. Simply no need for it. We could see loads of birders coming down this lane behind us so 'race horse, marker pen, bully man' will have been busy ! His farm entrance wasn't blocked so couldn't see what his problem was, only the fact that he was a total arse !!
