North Lincolnshire Council - orchid destruction yet again

Every year this grass panel at Barton is covered in Pyramidal, Bee and Common Spotted Orchids. Last year we were lucky to find Broomrape on this panel - the only Broomrape we have ever seen.  This year North Lincolnshire Council cut it to the ground in June. We have complained to our MP and received a reply which goes along the lines....'NLC know the orchids are there and manages this area for them. They only cut a width along the edges for health and safety reasons'.

Oh really......????

Perhaps our council could invest in some of these signs then the orchids might be able to grow and flower and the public will know why the grass is left..... we seem to be a country infatuated with short grass !
