Blackdog, Aberdeen
Went to Murcar while we were in Scotland, to try and catch the scoters. There were 1000's and 1000's of scoter on the sea which constantly flew about! Afraid the while winged scoter had long gone and it was impossible to sort out the black and surf with an ever rising tide, the birds got further and further away. Still, very impressive. Plenty of eider, sandwich terns, arctic skua, red throated diver, common and velvet scoter. Watched two pods of dolphins playing and feeding giving us a great show. All this with plenty of sunshine and not a soul on this lovely beach.
Scoter watching proved too much for one person, who just had no staying power whatsoever!
