Spoonbills, Alkborough Flats

Sat watching the 4 spoonbills that have been at Alkborough for the past week or so, when another 2 flew in. The group were back to 4 the following day and are still around.

We felt very privileged to be invited to the Moors annual moth count. With 5 of us on Thorne Moors, and further mothers on Crowle, lamps were soon lit and the moths arrived in droves. We had 80 species on Thorne. Haven't got the grand total yet but will post it on here when we know. 

A brilliant night in excellent company. Looking forward to the next one already !

A tea-time walk down at Alkborough Flats and 4 spoonbills flew in, excellent !  

Spotted Flycatchers

We haven't found any local spotted flycatchers this year so had to make a trip into deepest Lincolnshire to see this pair that had 2 chicks. Such lovely birds that were once so common.

Messingham

A stroll round Messingham NR with 3 common tern chicks on the raft and an egyptian goose in the horse field.

Louth Peregrine

Just one chick out this evening on Louth church but plenty of feeding noise when the male flew in with a late tea !
