Plenty of these showing at Alkborough today. Didn't see the dowitcher which is still on the site but a spoonbill flew in. Far too many people there today for Karen's liking!

Grey Heron with tea

An excellant day with plenty of close up seals, a peregrine eating a snipe and to finish it, this grey heron caught a flatty for its tea. Home for a chinese takeaway and beer !

Peregrine Falcon with lunch

Donna Nook peregrine falcon. Saw this bird take off complete with lunch which was just too bulky for it to fly with. It landed and began to pluck it before flying off with the lighter bird. This is what it left behind - the head and wings of a snipe!

Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire coast. No-one, just us two, a peregrine falcon and a few hundred seals. Perfect !

Hen Harrier

Far better light tonight, infact the sun was shining. Got there an hour earlier and within half hour the harrier flew its usual route giving us good views. We only saw the bird once tonight so glad we were there that bit early. The female remained elusive tonight.

Well, the sun shone all day, beautiful blue sky until 4 o'clock when we leave work. Then the grey cloud quickly fills the sky and tonight we even had rain and fog ! So the harrier flew slightly closer but the light conditions were horrendous.  Better luck tomorrow night !
