Fieldfares

 

Lots of fieldfares on our walk this afternoon, all busy stripping the bushes of berries. A feast !

When Simon was a child, he had a favourite book... 'What to look for in winter'. A penguin book that was part of a series and I am sure we all had a penguin book of some sort. This series is worth quite a lot today.  Seeing these fieldfares brought back memories of the childhood book that he spent hours looking at, dreaming of seeing these birds. The fieldfare picture was his favourite. Looking through many bookcases today and the book in question was soon found, it must be 60 years old but apart from the missing dust cover, its as good as new. Some childhood memories were rekindled xx
