Grey Phalarope, Covenham Reservoir, Lincs

What a day with miserable drizzle rain and wind, but we did get occasional sun which was very welcome as we made our way around Covenham Reservoir and just our luck, which we do every single time, we walked the wrong way with the birds almost on the last leg......we like to get our steps in !!

Cracking day, fabulous birds !

Ringed Plovers

Three stunning Ringed Plovers this morning, busy feeding along the waters edge

Wheatears and a Green Woodpecker

Two very flighty wheatears on our walk this morning and two very vocal green woodpeckers

A few red-legged partridges picking through the fields

And we still have a few butterflies around, a Red Admiral and a Speckled Wood

Ruffs, Covenham Reservoir

A walk round the reservoir for the little stint with dunlin, plenty of common sandpipers and a few ruffs

Little Stint and Dunlin, Covenham Reservoir

and a very distant, very flighty Little Stint

RSPB Blacktoft Sands with a couple of Little Stints and a wader fest !

A cracking morning visit to Blacktoft Sands. Not very often we get things spot on but today we certainly did. The mud infront of Singleton Hide was absolutely covered in waders and with the tide in, they were not going anywhere !

Ruffs, dunlin,  ringed plovers, curlew sandpipers and a couple of little stints,  it doesn't come much better than that!

Curlew Sandpipers

Little Stint - there were 2 out on the mud

Little Stint and Ringed Plover

The mud was covered - it was fantastic !

A fantastic few hours in Singleton Hide with only a handful of other folk enjoying the spectacle
