Last week's bits and bobs

Decided to make my own wreaths this year. Very pleased with these to be honest and very satisfying to make your own from snippets from the local forest

Scenic woodland walks in the greyness

Not short of wood and logs this year with a huge log pile (all bagged) and a good stash of coal. We have a shed full to the gills of cut logs aswell. We won't be cold this winter ! The new stove is far better than our old open fire, we put a quarter of fuel on and get tripe the heat, brilliant ! Have only put the radiators on once so far this winter and that was just to make sure it still worked.

Starlings

Now you may wonder about this one.....it's seaweed that Simon composts down to put in the potato compost. It gives the potatoes more taste. Fresh from Goxhill Haven, will get another bag full next time we are there. We stumbled on 10 snow buntings while collecting this.....double whammy !

A Paperwhite narcissus in full flower. Smells divine, very sweet and heady.

Lots of linnets in the hedge tops

King Alfred's Cakes - a new fungus for us

Huttoft Bank, Lincs. Totally covered in sand with no parking whatsoever. We saw a little auk and then beat a retreat before we got hypothermia !

A local Hawfinch. We saw 4 that morning, no complaints !

Great Crested Grebe

Some lovely winter fungus hanging on
