Grey Phalarope, Covenham Reservoir, Lincs

 

A lovely walk round Covenham Reservoir yesterday afternoon. The wind had gone and the sun shone. Took a nice coffee with us and watched the bird for hours. Couldn't ask for more !

And then came home and thought about cancelling our South Africa trip again.....for the third year. Feel like we will never, ever get back. But haven't cancelled yet.........

Snow Buntings

 

It's lovely to go a walk and see birds. Just lately all we have done is take our binoculars for a walk, with sod all to look at. Had a howling gale to contend with here along with sun in our faces and the usual never ending parade of dog walkers that we all encounter nowadays. Still, excellent birds to see, along with the blue sky and the sound of the sea, a flipping good day !

Grey Seals, Donna Nook, Lincs

We haven't been to see the seals at Donna Nook for a few years now so last Monday we headed there. A good choice of day as the crowds were not bad, infact the car park was near empty, just how we like it ! We were not disappointed with lots of new pups, plenty of scrapping males in the distance but what made our day was a birth right infront of us. It just popped out ! If only my childbirth had been so quick and easy! We watched it for ages and were relieved when it did eventually have it's first feed x
