King Penguins, Falkland Islands

It was a very surreal moment when we stood and watched these penguins on the Falklands. There were plenty of brown fur ball chicks still around and the warden told us that the numbers were up which is excellent news. They weren't bothered by us at all, infact they walked straight past us and didn't even look. We were surprised as to how close the public were allowed to get to them, the penguins area being marked out by stones and the tourists couldn't cross the stones. They were closely monitored which was good. But the weather and the rough seas mean that they are not bothered by tourists that often. We felt very lucky to have seen them. A magical day that we will never forget.
