Stonechats

Our walk this morning gave us Stonechats, lots of them, feeding and flitting around, ambushing caterpillars on the paths. Such smart looking birds, one of our favourites and always so good to see.

Lots of bearded tits feeding and flitting around the reed edges this morning and a very, very distant great white egret.

Booted Warbler, Sykes Field, Spurn

Pics by Ian Smith

With a favourable wind forecast we headed for Spurn, hoping for a fall of birds. We were soon parked up at Sammy's, flask and lunch out, redwings falling from the sky and a single Ring Ouzel over. Called in at Ian and Shaz's for tea (and chocolate biscuits!) when a shout went out of a pale warbler in Sykes Field.  BOOM.......Booted Warbler and a new UK bird for us.

Yellow Wagtails

A few hours at Spurn last week gave us our first Yellow-browed Warblers of the autumn with two on Vicar's Lane in Easington. On to Sammy's Point with lots of yellow wagtails, 6 wheatears, whinchat and a couple of stonechats in the paddocks.
