THE GREAT HALL

Friday saw us heading to the National Railway Museum in York to see the Great Gathering, all six surviving LNER streamlined A4 Pacifics.  On view were Mallard, Bittern, Dominion of Canada, Union of South Africa, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Sir Nigel Gresley. Brought together to mark the 75th anniversary of Mallard's record-breaking run of 125 mph. Dominion of Canada and Dwight D. Eisenhower had been brought over from Canada and America to complete this fabulous exhibition.
The Great Hall was absolutely packed making photography almost impossible. We queued for well over an hour just to step into the cab of Mallard, but it was well worth it. A 'once in a lifetime' day that was thoroughly enjoyable. Hope you enjoyed looking at our photographs.

Sand Martins

It was lovely to sit in the sun for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon and watch our local sand martins.

Common Spotted Orchids

One of our local nature reserves is absolutely covered in orchids this year. It really is the best showing we have ever seen on there.
