Butterfly and bees
This butterfly was a stunner! We saw loads of these, but afraid none of them ever stayed still. The giant bees were amazing with huge combs hanging from the cliffs and trees. The higher up they were, the safer they were.

Sacred Ibis at Alkborough
Just enjoying a cuppa in bed this morning when a text came from Neil Drinkall with a sacred ibis at Alkborough. So much for the lie in ! Just got there before the first dog walker of the day flushed this bird up and over Blacktoft. Photos are very distant in the rain, as usual!

This weekend
Magpie gathering this years nesting material.
Teal
Drake Smew with a fox trecking along the bank behind at Far Ings, Barton. A total contrast in the weather from earlier in the week.
Bittern at Far Ings, Barton in torrential rain with snow! Typical weekend weather. Highlights were drake smew, water rail, bittern and fox.

More Short Eared Owls
Plenty of short eared owls at Worlaby Carrs this week (and plenty of people!). We saw 8 owls Thursday and Friday evenings. Just leaving Worlaby when this one flew up and landed on a roadside post.
