Simon's Wood - looking good

In 1999, Simon planted a wood adjacent to Brumby Woods in Scunthorpe. Brumby Woods in an ancient semi-natural woodland and these 5 hectares were planted as a continuation. We walked through Central Park the other evening and was pleasantly surprised at how good this wood looked. It has all taken and is starting to really fill out. There is a real assortment of trees planted with the predominant tree being ash along with oak, cherry, field maple, rowan, silver birch, beech, hornbeam,  hazel, sweet chestnut and black poplar. Simon designed the wood and drew up the species list before submitting it to the Woodland Trust. His application was successful so he set about planting it himself aswell ! It now looks fantastic. What a legacy !!

We lost a good friend a few years ago and Simon grew an oak and planted it in his woods in memory of Steve Whittemore.
