RSPB Bempton Cliffs

Fulmar

Gannets with young

Kittiwakes with young

Puffins !

Razorbill with young

and a stoat !

but even Bempton isn't free from the idiots that now visit the countryside. A Saturday night party here on the cliff tops where the scum left every bit of rubbish and their tent aswell.

Our annual trip to Bempton Cliffs. The sky was blue and the sea fret that had lingered last week had finally cleared. Only the main car park was open to try and keep the visitor numbers down, which it did. But the visitors there today had no concept of social distancing and when a puffin was pointed out to them, 2 metres became 2 inches. Not good at all so we found our own birds away from the crowds and didn't stay long. A good one way system was in operation which worked perfectly well but social spacing on the platforms was non-existent. Good views of puffins, the star birds, a hunting peregrine swooping through the birds at sea and a stoat running up the grass bank were the highlights of an excellent few hours.

Lucy

Lovely to see our Lucy making the front page of the local newspaper. We clap for her in our hearts every single day, she deserves it and more. We can't tell you how proud we are xx

Lucy again accepting a 'Star Award' from a patient recently discharged from the Covid ward. On the right you can see Lucy's door, each heart represents a patient that has survived the Covid virus and been discharged. We can't wait to give her a hug, but afraid that will have to wait a while until she has a Covid free ward. Happy to sit in the garden and have a cup of tea with her though and a virtual hug xxxx

Out looking for Spotted Flycatchers .......

We didn't find any despite finding then here in years gone by, but just look at this lovely scenery, not complaining x

Garden Veg - flipping delicious !

We are having a bumper crop of strawberries this year with jars of jam being made on a daily basis. I don't like to blow our trumpet, but the jam on toast is flipping delicious !!

This pic makes me feel happy !

A couple of potatoes harvested, delicious with a knob of butter xx

Just look at this, beats shop bought hands down and its flipping scrumptious !

This chap lives in the garden pond and keeps his eye on things !

Asian Desert Warbler, Holy Island, Northumberland

Very active and not easy to pick up amongst the twigs. It did a circuit between 4 trees, constantly flitting about and feeding.

A drive north up to Holy Island yesterday for the Asian Desert Warbler. An easy drive, good parking and then walk and look for the pine trees and the crowd. Not too bad, only about 30 birders there. The Stood was covered in orchids so a return trip is definately on the cards. Stayed for a couple of hours knowing we had the 200 mile return trip, but a brilliant afternoon and well worth the drive. This takes Karen's UK tally to 419.
