The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight

A fabulous day out at RAF Coningsby for the annual family day. Blue sky and temperatures well into the 30's so no complaints there. The flying started at lunchtime and continued all afternoon, and all watched from our sun chairs. The Red Arrows surprised us all with a display and they were as spectacular as ever, finishing off with a '100' to mark the Royal Air Force Centenary. An excellent day out and all for free !

Broad-leaved Helleborine

Another new one for us, that's two today !  Lots of spikes with plenty of flowers.

Karen consulting her 'X marks the spot' map sent by a mate. All that greenery to look through !

and having a closer look at the flowers

And on the way home we reached the staggering temperature of 33 degrees, SCORCHIO !!

Green-flowered Helleborine

Another new one for us this year. Very difficult to find and even more difficult to photograph in a small wood that is 100% mosquito. We were peeling them off us and after 5 minutes we had to retreat. They may flower this week, but with this weather who knows. A site we will definately visit next year.

Worlaby Carrs car park

Once in a high level stewardship scheme, giving the landowner big bucks each year. Now used as a dump for their building rubble........ and all paid for by public money.

A walk inbetween golf and cycling....more mammals than birds
