Roe Deer, Alkborough

Totally oblivious to us sat in the hide, until it heard the click of the camera !
Definitely loosing it's winter coat.

Rutland Water Ospreys

Three was definitely a crowd ! The pair went into 'protect eggs' mode and spread their wings out so the roving osprey couldn't see them. It was fantastic to watch this on the big screen in the hide.

With little else locally to go and see, we headed off to Rutland Water to see the ospreys. We haven't been here for some years so it made a nice change. Plenty of ospreys back, but this was the only pair that we could see, the rest being on private land. Still, was more than happy to watch this pair (although distant), the close up images were shown on the big screen in the new hide, well impressed! They were sitting on 3 eggs.

Grasshopper Warbler

A late evening stroll down Alkborough Flats tonight and we couldn't believe our luck when we found this grasshopper warbler sitting on the bottom of the fence. We have never had one totally out in the open before, but it didn't stay out for long. It was soon back hiding in the foliage, reeling away.
