A fabulous day at Flamborough

Sat working away on Friday morning when the pager goes into 'mega' alert - a Crag Martin at Flamborough. Just 50 miles away and we are both still at work. Karen went to bed praying that it would still be there the following morning which it was up to about 8am and then it disappeared. Typical ! So, both mardy because work had got in the way yet again, we stayed local with the pager close by, just incase. There was a tawny pipit also at Flamborough so we decided to head there the following morning and hope for at least one decent bird this weekend. So, tawny pipit seen we headed off back to the car park for lunch and then thought we would finish the afternoon off at Bempton - wrong ! We met a couple of birders who had just come from Thornwick Bay and they told us they had just seen the Crag Martin. Off we headed, saw it before we had parked the car - YES ! A new UK first for us taking Karen's UK tally to 364. Watched it for a good 10 minutes, along with a couple of other birders, before it headed off further up the coast for about an hour. We sat and had lunch and enjoyed the tranquillity until the Crag Martin appeared again. We had to get it on the pager and soon the masses arrived and to be honest, ruined our afternoon. I don't know if it's just us, but it's  so rude to totally stand infront of you without any manners or thought, these weren't birders just people with cameras trying to photograph a rare bird. One man just played with his phone the whole time, yet he seemed to think he could do that infront of Karen and she wouldn't mind ....like buggery ! A fabulous day with a couple of brilliant birds. Afraid no pics as the tawny pipit was just too far away even for digi-scoping and our pics of the crag martin are just a blur !
