Spurn

After very heavy rain and gale force winds overnight, we headed to Spurn and were not disappointed. 1000's of Redwings continuously poured through, the passage never stopped. The road to the point was closed so we settled into Canal Scrape hide, just to get out of the driving wind and rain. A few ring ouzels came through, calling loudly. A great grey shrike was skulking in the bushes, the wind was obviously too much for him aswell. A couple of jack snipe were still visible as was a water rail. We had a surprise woodcock fly past the hide and goldcrests seem to be flitting in every bush. A fabulous day, nothing rare but fantastic numbers of birds making it quite a spectacle.

The trees were dripping with redwings
